Ayudha Pooja (9th day of Navratri) and Vijayadashami (10th day) means “Worship of weapons/tools.” These are Hindu festivals honoring the tools of livelihood and celebrating the victory of good over evil, respectively. It involves worshipping vehicles, books, and work instruments, while Vijayadashami celebrates Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura, or Lord Rama over Ravana, often with cultural rituals.

Bhoomi Puja is a Hindu ritual performed to worship Mother Earth (Bhoomi Devi), Vastu Purusha, and directional deities before starting any new construction or agricultural work. It serves to seek permission and blessings for a smooth, safe project, while clearing negative energy and asking forgiveness for disturbing the land.

Lakshmi Puja is a significant Hindu ritual dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, wife of Lord Vishnu. She is the deity of wealth, prosperity, and fortune, celebrated primarily on the third day of Diwali (Amavasya) to invite blessings into homes. It involves deep cleaning homes, lighting earthen lamps (diyas), and offering prayers to invoke Lakshmi’s grace for abundance, often honoring Lord Ganesha for auspiciousness.

Varalakshmi Puja (or Vratam) is a significant Hindu festival, primarily in South India, observed by married women to worship Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu, Bestower of boons (Vara) for wealth, prosperity, and the longevity of their husbands. It is celebrated on the Friday before the full moon in the Shravana month (July-August).

After Birth Ceremony

Is a sacred Hindu purification ritual performed to cleanse the mind, body, and surroundings of negative energies or ritual impurities before major ceremonies, homas, or entering a new home. It centers on the Kalasha Puja, where a pot of water infused with Vedic mantras and water is then sprinkled (Prokshanam) to bless the premise and participants.

Performed to formally name a newborn baby, usually on the 10th or 12th day after birth.

Involves the first cutting of a child’s hair on the head, usually performed between the 1st and 7th year of life. 

Performed by a priest, the ceremony involves feeding the baby kheer (rice pudding) or a similar nutritious dish, often by the maternal uncle or parents.

It is considered a sacred beginning (Vidya-Arambham means initiation of education) to help the child start their formal education smoothly.
