The Greater Nevada Hindu Temple (GNHT) was established on April 5th, 2019. A group of motivated individuals felt the need for a place of worship and to practice Sanatana dharma in Northern Nevada for the past several years. The group used to meet at different homes to conduct bhajans regularly. In 2018, the community came together to raise funds to purchase 1 acre land with an existing steel structure building of 1800sft on the property and established a non-profit corporation called Greater Nevada Hindu Temple which fulfilled the dreams of many people in the community who worked hard for several years and provided generous support to bring a temple in Northern Nevada.

Since its founding, GNHT has grown into a spiritual and cultural center dedicated to preserving and promoting Hinduism and the timeless values of Sanatana Dharma for current and future generations. The Temple serves as a vibrant hub for Indian and Hindu religious, cultural, artistic, educational, and charitable activities across the Greater Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and surrounding regions.

The Greater Nevada Hindu Temple is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, exempt from federal income tax under the Internal Revenue Code.

Our current temple, located at 888 Zolezzi Lane, Reno, Nevada, was purchased for $395,424.29, with the transaction completed on April 5, 2019. Poojas, Bhajans and Satsangs started at the temple from April 6th, 2019. The donation of marble idols of Ganesha, Shiv parivar, Ram parivar, Radha Krishna, Shiv Lingam, Durga mata, Sri Balaji and wooden idols of Jaggannath parivar by esteemed members of the temple boosted the already excited community. The donation of energized panchaloha vigrahams of Vishnu parivar, Karthika parivar and granite Ganesha by the Shiva Vishnu temple from Livermore, CA, is another dream come true to the community. 

Since acquiring the property, several enhancements have been made to both the interior and exterior, including landscaping, expanded parking, the installation of a concrete walkway around the temple, the addition of a storage unit, and other site improvements to better serve our devotees and community. Several new projects are currently underway, including the extension of the concrete slab, installation of a metal storage unit, and the addition of metal fencing and security gates, with expected completion in 2026. Now the temple management is focusing to improve the existing infrastructure like adding a kitchen, concrete patio etc. GNHT welcomes donations to help support these initiatives and future improvement projects aimed at enhancing the temple experience for all.

The mission of the Greater Nevada Hindu Temple is to pass on an everlasting place of worship for future generations to understand Hinduism and Sanatana Dharma. This Temple of God will promote religious, moral, and Spiritual growth for children and adults based on Hindu and Scriptures by celebrating Hindu traditions and preserving Indian Culture.
