GNHT’s Chinmaya Balvihar is a joyful, heart-centered weekly program where children don’t just learn about Indian Hindu culture, they live it. Offered free of charge by the Greater Nevada Hindu Temple, this Sunday program brings the renowned Chinmaya Mission BalVihar curriculum to life through storytelling, music, movement, reflection, and play.

Held every Sunday from 4:30–5:30 pm throughout the academic year, Balvihar creates a nurturing space where children explore timeless values, spiritual wisdom, and cultural traditions through games, yoga, stories, action bhajans, shlokas, and hands-on activities. More than a class, Balvihar is a community, one that helps children along with their families build each other up with confidence, curiosity, and a deep, joyful connection to Hindu heritage.

The program is lovingly conducted by volunteers of the temple, led by Tejaswini Vijayakumar, with a Master’s degree in Storytelling and currently pursuing a PhD in Education, she brings together the rare combination of academic depth, creative pedagogy, and spiritual grounding. Tejaswini has completed two years of dedicated Hindu scriptural training through the Chinmaya Mission’s Youth Empowerment Program (2014-2016) and is also an internationally certified RYT 200 yoga instructor.
