Our History
Greater Nevada Hindu Temple was established on April 5th, 2019. A group of dedicated devotees felt the need for a place of worship and to practice Sanatana dharma in Northern Nevada for the past several years. The group used to meet at different homes to conduct bhajans regularly. In 2018, The community came together to raise funds to purchase 1 acre land with an existing steel structure building of 1800sft on the property and established a non-profit corporation called Greater Nevada Hindu Temple which fulfilled the dreams of many people in the community who worked hard for several years and provided generous support to bring a temple in Northern Nevada.
Poojas, Bhajans and Satsangs started at the temple from April 6th, 2019. The donation of marble murthis of Ganesha, Shiv parivar, Ram parivar, Radha Krishna, Shiv Lingam, Durga mata, Sri Balaji and wooden idols of Jaggannath parivar by esteemed members of the temple boosted the already excited community. The donation of energized panchaloha vigrahams of Vishnu parivar, Karthika parivar and granite Ganesha by the Shiva Vishnu temple from Livermore, CA. is another dream come true to the community.
Our temple provides Annadanam to all devotees after Arathi on all Saturdays and Sundays and also on all festival days. Now the temple management is focusing on bringing a fulltime purohit to perform poojas and improve the existing structure like adding a kitchen etc. The mission of the Greater Nevada Hindu Temple is to pass on a permanent place of worship for all future generations to understand Hinduism and Sanatana Dharma. Our Hindu temple will promote Spiritual growth for children and adults based on vedic principles by celebrating vedic culture to enrich the cultural diversity of Northern Nevada.
